Jokūbas Krutkevičius is a PhD student at Sector of Applied Biocatalysis at the Institute of Biotechnology, Life Sciences Centre of Vilnius University (Lithuania). He was awarded with a Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) at Mycotheca Universitatis Taurinensis (MUT), Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology of the University of Turin (Italy).
The aim of this STSM was to screen the selected microorganisms from MUT collection for polyurethane degrading activity. Thanks to prof. Giovanna Cristina Varese and her team, Jokūbas had an opportunity to gain mycology laboratory skills and to attain promising results, which will be developed further in close collaboration between the two institutions.
STSM proved to be a very convenient tool for building partnership and sharing professional experience.
