In the days between 20-23.1.2020, Ocean4Biotech’s Chair Ana Rotter from the National Institute of Biology (NIB), Slovenia attended the Mediterranean Regional Workshop preparing for the UN Decade of the Ocean Science and its back-to-back event on plastic-free healthy Mediterranean Sea, organized to operationalize the BLUEMED R&I Action.
We believe that the effort of placing the importance of marine biotechnology development as one of the important agenda items for a sustainable Mediterranean Sea was achieved. The present policy makers, researchers and representatives from the civil society agreed that innovation will be important in the coming UN Decade of the Ocean 2021-2030.
Many of the Ocean4Biotech’s Action members come from the Mediterranean countries, therefore these events are also useful for widening our Action and establishing a dialogue with policy makers, to promote a faster adoption of innovation and changes.
